QSL? A Visual Language of 2-Way Communication

Exploring the world of social connection among amateur radio operators in the 20C.

QSL? (Do You Confirm Receipt of My Transmission?)

In collaboration with The Standards Manual, QSL? (Do You Confirm Receipt of My Transmission?) explores QSL cards, the physical, self-designed postcards that were exchanged by the millions among amateur radio operators across the world in the 20C. These individually designed bits of paper were a way of commemorating friendships made among strangers met on the radio frequencies. Besides being visually stunning graphic design artifacts, they collectively tell the story of how relationships and connections between strangers were made online before the advent of the internet, and thus give us a model to imagine how our current internet could be different.
