STATE.VISION explores the visual culture of the post-9/11 national security state.

Drawing from the archive (1996-2014), STATE.VISION juxtaposes images produced by official sources with those looking in from the outside. Palettes of cash sitting in military transport planes, office complexes in northern Virginia, protests in Moscow, navigational charts of southeast Cuba. Together, they form a peculiar kind of gaze, one that is alternatively documentarian and bureaucratic, banal and arresting, and which pushes us to ask what it is to see like a state.
